Privacy Policy

Bureau St. James is the consultancy practice of James Smith. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you visit bureaustjames.com.

What we collect

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, company, role, and any message you provide. When you use the console (chat), the text you enter is sent to our AI provider for processing. We store a language preference cookie on your device to serve the site in your chosen language. We do not use analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or advertising scripts.

How we use it

Contact form submissions are used solely to respond to your enquiry and, where appropriate, to begin a professional engagement. Console messages are processed by Anthropic (Claude) to generate responses. Anthropic's data handling practices are described at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

This site uses a single, strictly necessary cookie (lang) to remember your language preference. No consent banner is required for this cookie under the ePrivacy Directive, as it is essential to deliver the service you have requested. We use no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.

Data storage and security

The site is hosted on Vercel (edge network, with European points of presence). Form submissions are delivered via Vercel serverless functions. All connections are encrypted via TLS. We retain contact form data only as long as necessary to fulfil its stated purpose.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. You may also object to processing or request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact james@barqueandstar.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL.
